Acreage Calculation Formula
For rectangular fields:
Acres = (Length × Width in feet) ÷ 43,560
For metric measurements:
Hectares = (Length × Width in meters) ÷ 10,000
Conversion: 1 acre = 0.4047 hectares, or 1 hectare = 2.471 acres
Example
A field measures 1,320 feet × 660 feet (a quarter-mile by an eighth of a mile):
1,320 × 660 = 871,200 sq ft ÷ 43,560 = 20 acres

To calculate acres from feet, multiply length × width in feet to get square feet, then divide by 43,560. For example, a 200 ft × 200 ft field = 40,000 sq ft ÷ 43,560 = 0.918 acres.
One acre equals 43,560 square feet. A square acre is approximately 208.71 feet on each side. One acre also equals 4,840 square yards or 4,047 square meters.
